I’m hard at work on SHADOW OF THE RAVEN, but I’ve had such a fun week with all the Matt & Grace love that I thought I’d give away a copy of SAFE FROM THE FIRE.
Post a comment and tell me about your favorite story from myth or legend – Greek, Native American, Welsh, Mayan, whatever, and you’ll be entered to win a copy of SFF as a PDF or mobi.
I’ll take entries until Friday night, and the winner will be announced on Saturday. As for my favorites – I’ve always enjoyed the tragedy of Narcissus and Echo, along with pretty much any of the adventures of Loki. 🙂
More SHINY THINGS! Chapters 8 & 9 are up!
Happy reading, and stop by over the next week for SHADOW OF THE RAVEN excerpts…
I’m particularly fond of any of the Native American stories about the Raven, Coyote or the Turtle that created the world.

Those are great! I just discovered them recently and they’re fantastic.
I adore the story of how Odin scarified his eye for knowledge and how he hung on the tree Yggdrasil for wisdom
The Norse myths are pretty brutal, but so creative – I love the Tree of the World concept.
Yes, the Tree of the World, and the levels of the world. I love “D’aulaire’s Book of Norse Myths” for their drawings both of the levels and Yggdrasil.
oh and my email since I’m silly authorjoellecasteel @ excite dot com
The benefit of a low turnout is that I feel all guilty and then I decide to give away TWO copies of SFF so that no one feels left out. 🙂 Sheri and Joelle, let me know if you’d prefer a PDF or a mobi copy! And congrats!!!
ah thanks, Lily. Too bad the turn out wasn’t good. Here, let me return the favor and invite you (and any of your readers, to the contest going on my blog today http://joellecasteel.blogspot.com/2013/03/kaya-and-ailin-queen-and-valasex-contest.html I’d like a pdf please
