SNEAK PEEK and SPICY EXCERPT from BEWITCH ME!!!

I can’t wait!  Here’s a sneak peek of my Halloween collection, BEWITCH ME, which I am going to finish up this weekend for you.  PASSION & PUMPKINS and MY FAIR HEX are available as single titles, of course, but I have three NEW hot Halloween stories to curl up with.

Below, blurbs for ENSORCELLED, THAT MAGIC TOUCH, and BEWITCH ME, and a semi-spicy excerpt from ENSORCELLED to get you going. 🙂

For some reason, all of these stories are witchy – I suppose that’s where my brain goes.  I was a witch for Halloween probably 90% of my childhood.  Go figure.  Happy reading and check back Monday!

Bewitch Me - SMALL

ENSORCELLED

Beautiful PR witch Felicia Dawes would do anything for her impulsive younger sister, but when Fae openly challenges Gavin Harcourt, the oh-so-sexy and powerful Head of the Council, even Felicia knows that she’s gone too far.  Desperate to save her little sister from banishment or worse, Felicia casts a love spell to stall the brooding warlock, but neither she nor Gavin are prepared for the consequences or the passion that flares between them.  When the magical dust settles, Felicia and Gavin are forced to face reality again, but will Fae’s transgression ruin their happily ever after?

PASSION & PUMPKINS

Third grade teacher Cass Webster is having a hard enough time dealing with her newly awakened witchy powers, but how’s a witch supposed to keep a level head when one sexy smile from Tom Owens sends her senses and her magic into overdrive?  When her attempt to save his award-winning pumpkins from disaster results in sparks, seduction, and a little magic, it’s up to Cass to set things to rights and convince a freaked-out Tom that falling for a witch may be the best Halloween treat of all!

THAT MAGIC TOUCH

Nursing a bruised ego and a slightly dented heart after her no-good ex-fiance cheated on her, Jane Fairhaven isn’t in the mood for a party, and would rather be anywhere other than catering a lavish corporate Halloween party for the Proctor law firm.  It’s tough enough to accept the existence of monsters, witches, and magic, but even harder to accept that Wes Proctor, the hot lawyer she’s been crushing on, is actually a powerful warlock.  When the party turns into a magical orgy, Jane finds herself trapped in a storage room with the blue-eyed hottie, who can’t seem to take her predicament seriously.  Can Wes persuade Jane that all she needs is a little magic to spice up her life and let her see the future instead of dwelling on the past?

MY FAIR HEX

Half-pixie Lea Gillingham is totally ready to quit.  She loves her job as assistant to the powerful Kirk Rhodes, but she’d throw it all away for one night of passion with the gorgeous but arrogant warlock. Unfortunately, Kirk has never been a one-woman warlock, and in any case, is completely oblivious.  Determined to seduce her maddening boss at the Halloween Ball, Lea disguises herself as a succubus, sure that Kirk will never know the truth.  But when Lea’s spell goes awry, Kirk starts to see his sexy assistant in a new light, and sets out to show her that he can change his ways and become a one-pixie man, no magic required.

BEWITCH ME

There goes the neighborhood.  Trent Langley is furious when his building goes magical, and the added chaos from warlocks, elves, and half-trolls taking up residence in his posh condo is enough to drive a man crazy.  If that weren’t enough, Trent is sure that the stunning witch across the hall has bewitched him – he can’t stop thinking about Isabella Fiero, though she denies any witchy meddling.  Isabella can’t help her attraction to her hot new neighbor, and though she hasn’t cast any spells, she can’t rule out the possibility that her magic may be luring him to her. When Trent demands answers, he and Isabella need to figure out if their white-hot chemistry is a magical glitch, or just natural attraction, impossible to deny.

EXCERPT FROM ENSORCELLED:

SHE KNEW.

The thought bounced around in Gavin’s head like a demented Jack-in-the-Box as he tried to process the idea.  She knew what she did to him.  She knew that she was his vulnerability, that given any weakness in his emotional armor, she could wriggle her way in and methodically destroy him from the inside out.  Because he couldn’t say no.  She was offering herself to him on a silver platter, and he couldn’t convince himself to turn her down.

Gavin steeled himself.

You can’t have her.  Scare her off before it’s too late.

She didn’t need his darkness, and if he had to banish Fae, she’d never speak to him again.  This situation had regret written all over it.

“Anything?” he asked, his voice harsh, and Felicia nodded, eyes wide.

Deliberately, Gavin let his eyes wander down her figure, lingering on the curves of her breasts, the womanly swell of her hips, and the juncture at the top of her thighs.  Felicia bit her lip but let him look, her fingers gripping the edges of his jacket.

Jeez, that dress is painted on.

“If I asked, would you strip for me?  Right here?” he growled.

A tiny inhalation, and then a nod.

Gavin’s cock jerked in his pants.

“Go to your knees and take my cock down your throat?”

“Yes,” breathed Felicia.

Gavin caught her involuntary swallow, as though she were picturing it, and nearly groaned aloud.

“So you’d fuck me on this rooftop to protect your sister?”

“Yes, I would.”

“What if I called my bodyguards up here and said I wanted you to spread your thighs so I could watch them fuck you?”

“You don’t share,” she gasped, but there was a trace of uncertainty, of fear in her voice, and Gavin couldn’t go on.

He could humiliate her, insult her, destroy her interest in him, but it might kill him in the process.

Eyes burning into hers, Gavin took her hand and pressed a kiss into the palm, savoring her shiver and the sweetness of her skin.

“Go home, Felicia,” he murmured, feeling lower than low as tears gathered in her green eyes.

Gavin couldn’t take it.  Turning, he reached for the door handle.

“Wait!  Gavin, stop!”

Gavin ignored Felicia’s desperate command.  He needed to get away from her before he did something monumentally stupid.  His body was tight with arousal, and the hunger he saw in her eyes only twisted the knife deeper – if he hadn’t been such a chicken shit and actually approached her the way he’d wanted to, they might have had something.  And now it was too late.

The rush of warm magic was a complete surprise, and Gavin barely had time to turn around before he felt it spread…heat and power, surging through his body in warm, seductive pulses.

“What did you do?!?” he gasped, his head falling back.

It felt like warm fingers were stroking every inch of his body.

Felicia stepped forward, her eyes worried.

“It’s just a little smitten spell.  I’m so sorry, Gavin.  But if you won’t let Fae go, I need some time to figure something out.  It’ll just make you starry-eyed for a little while, but the effects will wear off in time.”

Gavin groaned.  The warm fingers had morphed into searing hunger, and the only thing that mattered was getting as close to Felicia Dawes as possible.

Must touch.

She squeaked in surprise as he grabbed her and pressed her back against the wall, the feel of her body soothing and inflaming at the same time.

Much better, he thought.

There’s candy corn in the air…

07 Monday Oct 2013

With all the business of getting MORE THAN A NIGHT and SAFE FROM THE STORM in working order, I didn’t want to forget that it’s October!  Halloween!  Black cats and magic and candy corn!

I have a few treats in store in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!!!

My Fair Hex - SMALLEST

Half-pixie Lea Gillingham loves her job as assistant to the powerful Kirk Rhodes, but if she had a choice between her job and a night of passion with the gorgeous but arrogant warlock, she’d take his hard body in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, Kirk has never been a one-woman warlock, and in any case, has never seen her as an object of desire, though she’s indispensable to him. As her feelings grow despite her best efforts to squelch them, Lea realizes that she can’t go on like this, but is determined to take one lasting memory of pleasure with her when she leaves. With a little help from her BFF and a handy spell, Lea disguises herself as a succubus, determined to seduce her maddening boss at the Halloween Ball, even if her disguise means he’ll never know the truth.

Kirk Rhodes is intrigued when a surprisingly shy little succubus approaches him at the Halloween Ball in search of a conquest for the night. He’s happy to oblige, but there’s something different about her. The evening takes a strange turn when he suddenly finds himself fantasizing about Lea, rather than the voluptuous sex goddess in his arms. It’s only when Lea’s spell starts to falter that fantasy and reality collide, and Kirk sets out to convince his sexy and skeptical assistant that he can change his ways and become a one-pixie man, no magic required.

EXCERPT:

“You either have to quit, or you have to fuck him and then quit.”

Lea rolled over on the bed to let her tiny dragonfly wings flutter, frowning as she remembered the conversation.  Tricia was right, of course.  She couldn’t keep working for the man, knowing how she felt about him and knowing, too, that he’d never see her as anything but his assistant.  She loved her job, but this was killing her.  But if she was going to go, she was damn sure going to take the memory of one spectacular night of pleasure with her.  Which brought her back to Tricia’s bedroom and Lea’s risky, stupid, so-crazy-it-might-work plan.

“Those wings are so hot, girl.  I don’t understand why you keep them covered.  If I had pixie wings, I’d be showing them off!”

“They’re not professional, Tricia.  The last thing I need is the guys at the office thinking I’m easy because I’m yet another blonde, brainless, pixie bimbo.”

“You’re only half a pixie bimbo, sweetie. The other half is all witch.”

“And how do you think I ended up that way?  Dad was a young warlock working for the mayor, Mom flashed her wings at him one night in the elevator, and BAM.”

“It’s icky that you know that.”  Tricia wrinkled her nose.

“Tell me about it.  Mom has no off switch.”

“Well, tonight at the Halloween Ball, you’re not going to be a witch or a pixie, Lea.  You’re going to be a drop-dead-come-do-me-succubus, and Kirk isn’t going to be able to keep his hands off you.  Or his tongue, or his – ”

“I get it, thanks.”

Tricia held up a lavender corset and a tiny matching skirt.

“This is the one.  Come on, let’s get your face on.”

The spell was a tricky one, but Lea had followed the directions meticulously.  Being only half-witch, she needed Tricia’s help to pull it off.

“Are you sure I should just do my face?”  She was dubious as she stood in the bathroom over a portable cauldron that bubbled with turquoise goo.

Tricia rolled her eyes.

“We have to practice you looking in the mirror once in a while, Lea.  Every succubus in the city would kill to have your curves.  Not to mention those legs.  Personally, I think you should just lock Kirk in his office and strip down.  I guarantee he’ll notice.”

“He won’t come near me if he knows it’s me.”

“Then he’s an idiot.”

Lea glared at her.

“I don’t want to have this argument again.  Look, I don’t want him to feel obligated to try for more than he has to give, and I don’t want the gentle rejection.  I just want a night of mindless hot sex to tide me over until the next time I’m stupid enough to fall for someone who’s out of my league.  It doesn’t matter what I do.  He looks at me and sees a filing cabinet.”

“Tomorrow we’re going to get seriously drunk and have a little discussion about what is and isn’t your league,” Tricia sighed.

“Are you going to help me, here?  I don’t have enough magic to set the spell on my own.”

“Fine.  But I want to lodge a formal protest.”

“Noted.  And I love you.”

“Of course you do.  You know this is only going to work because he’s a total warlock whore.”

“Yeah, I’m trying not to dwell on that.”

Lea dipped a hand in the goo and smeared it all over her face.

“Ready?” Tricia asked, and Lea nodded.

EXCERPT!!! More Than A Night – COMING VERY VERY SOON!!!

Happy Friday!

The first 30K of MORE THAN A NIGHT are looking good!  The last 20K still need a little slashing with the red pen, but I’m pushing through a great pace!  Here’s a little excerpt to get your weekend started.

More Than A Night - SMALL

EXCERPT:

ERIN HAD BATTLED NERVES since the moment she woke up, wondering if this was a huge mistake after all, wondering if she’d feel the same punch of heat when Henry touched her again.  She almost called the whole thing off, but Renee had dragged her shopping the day before, loading her up with naughty little scraps of silk and lace despite her protests.  It seemed silly to dress for Henry – it wasn’t like she needed to seduce him.

“This month is all about fantasy, Erin,” said Renee, holding up a sheer black lace teddy with silver trim, “Tell me you’re not the tiniest bit interested in the look on Henry’s face when he sees you in this.”

And it was true.  It was completely irrational, but Erin wanted Henry to find her irresistible, to watch his eyes smolder when she sauntered toward him, to hear his growl of pleasure as he ripped the lace aside to find her breasts…

There would be no calling it off.

The flight to Burlington was short, and from there, it was just an hour’s drive out to Covington, a quaint little hideaway, and then Henry’s farm.  Erin hadn’t been sure what to expect, but the rolling green hills and the long barns next to a weathered farmhouse were a charming surprise.  She had no experience with cows, but even to Erin’s untrained eye, the modest herd munching in the pasture seemed content and well-cared for.  As she stepped out of the cab, Erin registered the details – patches on the roof, peeling paint, and a truck that seemed to be held together with safety pins and chewing gum.

None of it mattered, because Henry was striding toward her, as tall and drool-worthy as she remembered, a tentative smile on his face, banked heat in his eyes.  Erin felt a response flicker through her…until she noticed the woman on the porch and the boy peeking out around her skirts.

“I’m so sorry,” began Henry, and Erin frowned as reality crashed down.

“I thought you said they were leaving?”

“Yeah, well, try making a ten-year-old do something he doesn’t want to do.  And if Mike stays home…”

“Myra does, too.”

Their eyes met, and Erin couldn’t help feeling sympathetic, despite her selfish desire to have him all to herself.  Henry looked so flustered…anxious.

“If you want to call it off – ” he said and stopped, swallowing hard.

“No – ”

The word was out before Erin had a chance to think about it, a gut reaction, but –

“What did you tell them?”

Nerves fluttered through her.

“They pretty much assume you’re my girlfriend.”

Erin leaned against the car, assimilating, as the cabbie hefted her suitcase from the trunk.

“Okay,” she said.

“Yeah?” grinned Henry.

“Well, it’s better than sugar mama, right?” she joked, and winced internally as Henry frowned.

New rule, no talking about our “arrangement,” Erin advised herself.

Apparently, Henry didn’t want to dwell on the money any more than she did.  Erin busied herself tipping the cabbie, and then turned back to face him.

“So, in a normal situation, you would kiss your girlfriend hello, right?”

“That would be the polite thing to do,” he agreed.

Dust spluttered as the cab pulled away and Henry put his hands on her waist.  He tugged her forward until his body brushed hers, and Erin couldn’t help the tiny moan that escaped her throat at the feel of him, all hard muscle and strength.  Suddenly, she couldn’t believe she’d survived weeks without touching him.  She wanted to push him up against the nearest flat surface and ravish him from head to toe.  Henry heard the little sound and she felt his hard, hot body get even harder.  His mouth lowered to carefully press against hers.  To the observers, it would seem like a friendly, gentle salutation.  To Erin, it was an exercise in restraint – not to yank him closer, devour his mouth, and urge his hands all over her body.  He wasn’t as in control as he appeared, either.  Though his mouth was casual against hers, his fingers bit into her hips, and she caught the murmured, “Fuck,” as he tore his lips away.

SPICY EXCERPT!!! More Than A Night – COMING SOON!

16 Monday Sep 2013

Posted by LilyRede in Excerpts, More Than A Night

It’s Monday!  Yes, I’m not thrilled either.  But here we are. 🙂

To soothe all the grumpy little bears out there, here’s a spicy little excerpt from MORE THAN A NIGHT.  I’ve fixed the weirdness in the middle chapters that was bothering me, so I’m hoping that a few long days of writing will let me get it in the queue this coming weekend.

Hang in there, and keep the coffee handy!  Also, if you have a sec, scroll down to the most recent post and answer this weekend’s Kringle poll to help me decide how to expand my spicy little holiday series this December!  Thanks!  xoxo

More Than A Night - SMALL

BLURB (work in progress blurb, ahem…):

After a lifetime of isolation caring for her eccentric, chronically ill father in the middle of nowhere, Erin James suddenly finds herself extremely wealthy, but utterly alone.  Her attempts to date are disastrous as she realizes that not only does she have no idea how to talk to men, but most of them only want her for her money. Determined to give herself the physical experiences she’s missed out on, she decides to use her new wealth to hire an escort – no messy emotional entanglements, no embarrassment over her lack of experience. Unsure where to find such a person, she turns to her sympathetic lawyer for advice. Luckily, she seems to know just the right man…

Henry Warren would do anything to keep his ranch afloat, but he’s out of credit and he’s running out of time, with people depending on him. When his lawyer offers an outrageous suggestion – one night with a reclusive client of hers, he’s just desperate enough to agree. He doesn’t expect to find a sweet, funny young woman hot enough to drop him to his knees.

When one night isn’t enough for either of them, Erin proposes a deal that could save Henry’s ranch forever, but will the money that brought them together wind up tearing them apart?

EXCERPT:

I CAN’T BELIEVE I just said that.

The man was offering to give her a night of romance, to wine and dine her, but all Erin could think was, That’s three more hours before I get to feel his body against mine.

From the moment she’d opened the door, she’d known Renee was right.  Everything about Henry Warren radiated solid, honest, and hard-working.  And oh my God, he was hot.  Tall and strong and mouthwatering in clean jeans and a simple button-down shirt.  He smelled terrific, too, like soap and a slight hint of spicy aftershave along with something uniquely his.  She wanted to wallow in it.  It might make her a total slut, but she simply couldn’t wait any longer.  Erin had given herself Henry Warren as the ultimate present, and she didn’t intend to waste a minute.

He was a little shocked, she could tell, and Erin kicked herself for rushing it, but then he smiled, and her mouth went dry as that hand that had been driving her crazy with tiny little rubs into her palm now slid up her arm to cup her face.

“Then, Miss James, I’d say we start with this.”

Giving her plenty of time to back away, Henry lowered his mouth to hers, and there wasn’t anything awkward or slobbery about it.  His lips were warm and firm against hers, and she gasped as she felt his tongue stroke her lower lip.  She felt like she was drowning as he coaxed her tongue out to play with his, patiently, gently, building hunger by degrees.

It wasn’t enough.

Barely aware of what she was doing, Erin sank her teeth into his lower lip, relishing his groan as he froze.  Then, suddenly, nothing was gentle anymore.  Henry hauled her up against him and the crush of his chest against her breasts had her pussy throbbing for more while he ravaged her mouth.  Her arms were around his neck, the softness of his hair under her fingers a visceral delight.

This was more than a kiss.  This was epic.

Henry pulled away, panting.

“Fuck,” he murmured, “We need to slow down.”

“But – ”

“Trust me,” he said, kissing the tip of her nose, and she melted as he moved to explore her jaw and the sensitive skin of her throat, “Tell me what you like.”

Erin put a little space between them, though she didn’t let go.

“I don’t know what I like,” she confessed, unsure.

“You must have fantasies.  Tell me one.”

Every muscle in Erin’s body clenched at the thought of sharing something so intimate with a virtual stranger, and then her body flooded with heat at the thought that he would make it a reality.

“Nothing leaves this room, right?” he reminded her, and she nodded.

His hands were petting her now, down her back to her hips and back up to brush the sides of her breasts, learning her shape.  It was distracting and delicious, and Erin mustered her courage.

“Can I undress you?” she asked.

“Honey, you can do anything you want.”  His low growl wrapped around her like warm caramel. “What happens once I’m naked?”

Erin swallowed.  The hunger in his eyes was making her dizzy.

“Then you undress me, and then – ” She hesitated.

“Go on,” he murmured.

“Then you taste me.  Everywhere,” she finished in a rush.

Henry grinned and pulled her to her feet to stand by the bed.

“We’re going to have to work on your imagination, honey.  That sounds more like just the appetizer course to me.”

While she was puzzling that out, Henry set her hands on his chest.

“I’m all yours.”

EXCERPT!!! A For Effort – COMING SOON!!!

06 Friday Sep 2013

Posted by LilyRede in Excerpts, Teach Me Tonight

Tuesday Update:  Finally in the queue!  Look for it tonight.

It’s late Friday night and I still have a bit to do on A For Effort – it’s looking like it’ll be up Sunday rather than Saturday.  Close!

Here’s an excerpt and blurb, as promised, to tide you over. 🙂

A For Effort - SMALL

All’s fair in love and water sports!

Coach Josie Malloy is furious when new Head Swim Coach Adam Dupree starts messing with her plans to take her synchronized swimming team to greatness.  It’s bad enough that the college barely considers her discipline a sport, but now he’s encroaching on her funding and forcing her to share the pool!  To make matters worse, Josie can’t help the white hot attraction that steams up the room whenever they get close, but is she willing to risk her heart for a man who might mean the end of her career?

Adam Dupree knows that everyone is watching him – the pressure to turn the aquatics department into a world class program is immense, but he’d have no trouble handling it if weren’t for those pesky synchronized swimmers who insist on considering their activity a “sport,” and their maddeningly sexy coach.  Adam  is determined not to let them get in the way, a feat which seems impossible as the beautiful swim coach distracts him at every turn with her gorgeous body and fierce determination.  As their conflict escalates, Adam and Josie have to come to terms with their sizzling connection or risk losing their chance at love in the pursuit of aquatic gold.

EXCERPT:

“LOOK AT THAT ASS.”

“You can’t see his ass, it’s underwater.”

“I can imagine the tight ass that goes with those yummy shoulders.’’

“Does anybody care that that objectification of manhood is taking up our pool time?  Move over, I can’t see!”

Josie Malloy frowned at the ten teenage girls in matching swimsuits huddled behind the diving platform, their gazes trained on the lone swimmer in the Olympic-sized pool of the Malvern College sports complex.

“Ahem,” she said, and the girls jumped guiltily.

“Hi, Coach,” said Kate, brightly, though her eyes strayed back to the pool.

“Warming up means actually getting in the water, ladies.  You were supposed to start half an hour ago.”

Josie infused as much sternness as she could into her tone, and the girls shuffled uneasily.  She knew she was tough on them, but the synchronized swim team – eight regulars, two alternates – had real potential this year.  Josie had her hopes set on taking her team to the Olympic trials, and if that meant being a little stricter than usual, well…

“What about him?” asked Marisol, and Josie finally turned to look at the interloper in their pool.

He was at the far end, finishing a lap, and she couldn’t see much, but got the impression of dark hair and a toned physique.

Good form, too.

Josie shrugged.

“It’s our time.  He’ll just have to move.”

Everyone knew that the regular swim team had the morning slot, the synchronized swimmers got the afternoon, and Josie had hopes of putting together an official diving team for night practice.  Malvern was on the brink of becoming a major name in aquatic sports, and Josie wanted to be right there at the top.  It still rankled that she’d been passed over for the regular swim team coaching spot when Coach Schwinn had retired last June, but she was a damned good coach, and she was going to make sure her kids went all the way, whether it was synchronized swimming or dog paddling.

Win or die trying.

Her old diving coach’s morbid mantra came back to her, and she shook it off.  She was nothing like the egotistical old taskmaster who had taken her to the World Championship and then abandoned her after an injury cut short her athletic career.

So maybe Josie went a little overboard trying to prove herself.  So what?  She was giving it her best, even if that meant dealing with sexist council members, a lack of funding, and a depressing absence of a social life.  Josie couldn’t remember the last time she’d had a date that was a date rather than a desperate attempt to charm money out of some school benefactor over bad wine and snacks at one of Malvern’s regular benefits.

“Oh, baby,” groaned one of the girls behind her, followed by a collective sigh from the other nine, and Josie snapped out of her musings to watch the swimmer climb out of the pool.

Oh, baby is right, thought Josie, feeling a surprising clench of feminine muscles that hadn’t clenched for anyone in a long, long time.

He was gorgeous, a male specimen in his absolute prime, with longish dark hair slicked back from a face that could have graced a magazine cover, and piercing eyes that were either blue or black from this distance.  Water streamed down broad shoulders, strong pecs, and a chiseled torso, all smooth, golden skin.  Josie noticed there was no hair on his legs, either.

He’s too old to be a pro, she thought, puzzled.

“He’s like a merman rising from the deep,” sighed Audra, a sophomore poetry major.

“Yeah, if the merman was hung like a horse,” snorted Mei Lin, twisting her long black hair up under her swim cap as the girls giggled.

Involuntarily, Josie’s eyes wandered to the tight black fabric that cupped the stranger’s generous assets.  Even at rest, he filled out the skimpy suit in a way that was…impressive.

God, I wonder what he looks like hard.

The image hit her like a ton of bricks – his mouth curved in a wicked grin, his body tight with sexual tension and slick with sweat as he worked thick inches of cock into her hungry pussy, his muscles firm and hot as she dug her fingers into his biceps…

Josie shivered in arousal, and quickly covered it with a cough, horrified with herself.

“That’s enough.  Tick-tock, girls.  I’m going to have a word with our unwelcome guest.”

Her attempt to get things back on track was derailed as the stranger turned and bent to grab a towel, prompting a chorus of groans from the team.

“I told you.  Look at that ass!”

Rolling her eyes, Josie glared at them and started along the pool, relieved to hear the familiar splashing behind her.  She was around nearly naked swimmers all the time, but unaccountably every step she took toward this one had her clutching her clipboard tighter.

What is wrong with me? Josie scolded herself.

She had always been tomboyish and athletic by nature.  Most of her friends were men, though by now, most of them were married or in significant relationships.  Josie never knew what to do with herself when confronted with a single, handsome member of the opposite sex.  By the pool, she was in control and completely sure of herself.  At a bar or on a date, she worried about tripping in heels and not being “girly” enough to compete.  She had managed to sabotage more perfectly nice potential relationships than she cared to admit.  Bland potential relationships, but still.  It was stupid and all in her head.

But insecurities generally are, she thought, steeling herself.

“Excuse me,” she said, trying to ignore the play of smooth muscle under his skin as he toweled off and the fact that his six-foot-plus frame meant that she only came up to his very lickable damp chest.

He looked up, and Josie instantly forgot what she was going to say.

Blue, she thought, His eyes are a dark, beautiful, drowning blue.

HELL,  THOUGHT ADAM DUPREE, I’M too old to be fending off co-eds.

Ten years ago, he had to admit, the raven-haired beauty clutching the clipboard like her life depended on it would have been right up his alley.  The long braid reached the small of her back and the gray tracksuit couldn’t hide sweet, feminine curves.  Her eyes were a warm hazel, with a sprinkling of freckles over her pert nose, and a beautifully elven face.  And she had the most delicate, elegant hands he’d ever seen.

A sudden vision of tasting the pads of her fingers before wrapping them around his aching cock and showing her how to pleasure him had Adam bunching the towel in front of him, desperately hoping the move was smooth enough that she wouldn’t notice the sudden proof of his arousal.

You’re not a horny teenager anymore, he reminded himself, and this is essentially your office.

“Swim team tryouts start in September, the schedule will be up in a couple of weeks.  Anything else, you’ll have to find me during my regular office hours.”

The pretty little co-ed frowned.

“I’m not a student,” she growled.

Uh-oh.

SPICY EXCERPT!!! Kiss of the Wild Wolf – and updates!

26 Monday Aug 2013

Posted by LilyRede in Excerpts

A few little updates!  The gremlins who interrupt my pages are still stomping on everything in sight, but I’m making some headway.

MORE THAN A NIGHT – Needs a few chapter rewrites – the middle part.

SAFE FROM THE STORM – Coming along, not as quickly as I would like, but the page count is growing!  Poor Tony and Nora – they’ve got a few things to work out.

TEACH ME TONIGHT – Stories #3, #4, and #5 are all outlined and ready to write.

HEARTS OF STONE – ENSNARED and SHADOW OF THE RAVEN.  Two epic mythologies trying to take each other out – what could go wrong?  Grrr…continuity…

Anyway, here’s a spicy little excerpt of KISS OF THE WILD WOLF, which for the moment is looking like a stand alone for next month, though that might change as the story unfolds.  Happy Monday!

KISS OF THE WILD WOLF

All Nina O’Rourke wants is a baby, a child to bring joy to her husband in his final  days before he succumbs to a ravaging illness, and someone to love as she faces the future alone.  Everything about the plan is crazy – Nina’s not the kind of woman who picks up a gorgeous stranger for a night of incredible sex.  But she’s not about to turn away when tall, dark, and delicious Malcolm Trask appears on the side of the road, willing to give her anything and everything she craves.  After a night of intense passion, the likes of which she’s never known, Nina assumes they’ll never see each other again.  Soon after, she finds herself pregnant and widowed, at the mercy of greedy former in-laws, and her future seems more than a little uncertain.  Crossing paths with her hot one night stand is humiliating enough, but maybe he can explain these strange symptoms she’s having…

Billionaire CEO and wolf shifter Malcolm Trask has never been used for sex and dumped before, and the feeling isn’t pleasant.  When the pretty little human who rocked his world stumbles into his life again, he is shocked to find her pregnant and in distress.  Knowing that bringing her into the family will cause tension, not to mention a possible war with a neighboring pack, Malcolm is still determined to protect her and figure out a way to tell her that the baby she’s carrying is less than human.  She can’t be his, but can he find the strength to let her go before he loses his heart to her completely?

EXCERPT:

“If you toss me your wet clothes, I’ll see if I can get the management to toss them in the dryer for a few…”

She trailed off as the door opened and her half-assed plan abruptly deserted her along with every thought in her head other than oh yum.

What could she say, after all?  From the second the door opened, her earlier suspicion was confirmed – there wasn’t a woman in her right mind who wouldn’t give up vital organs to climb this stunning piece of manhood like a jungle gym.  Wearing those faded jeans and nothing else, everything about him was oh so right in a mouth-drying, pussy-clenching, please fuck me kind of way, and Nina stood frozen in the doorway, wallowing in the humiliating realization that he was completely out of her league but being completely unable to turn away.

All she could do was stare at the sculpted muscled chest dusted with dark hair and the hard ridged abs that led her eyes down, down to a narrow happy trail and an intriguingly thick bulge under well-worn denim. Steam filled the room behind him, caressing his broad shoulders the way she wanted to, and his eyes seemed to glow green fire as he stared at her, surprise and hunger in his gaze.  But he didn’t speak – wouldn’t speak, it seemed – waiting for her next move.

Must touch.

Wait, talk first.  Then touch.

Nina opened her mouth –

Something coherent would be nice.

Instead, all that emerged was a husky moan, and Malcolm took a sharp breath.  Nina watched in horrified fascination as her trembling fingers reached out, brushing the warm skin of his stomach that clenched under her touch, and undid the button of his jeans.

What are you doing?!?

That was as far as the self-recrimination got, because the next minute Malcolm hauled her close with a sound that could only be described as a growl and his mouth came down on hers, hot and possessive, hands gripping her waist, his tongue stroking and taking her in a way that made her bones melt as she plastered her eager body to his.  He tasted incredible, and all that mattered was getting as close as possible and feeling her breasts crush against his hard body while her hands gripped unyielding biceps.

Nina barely noticed when he lifted her onto the counter, but a yank had the clip in her hair loosening, and her heavy locks tumbled down around them as he stepped between her thighs, pulling her hips forward to snug her aching pussy up to his erection.

“Oh God,” Nina whimpered, her head falling back as Malcolm ground against her sensitive flesh.

He was big and hard and so hot against her, from the hands that learned her  curves to his chiseled torso to the firm press of an undeniably huge cock trapped behind the denim of his jeans.  Sex with Graham had been fun, and tender, and playful, but it had never been like this – this primal need to rub her skin against his, to drown in a wave of rough pleasure that only the potent male between her thighs could provide.

“You taste so good,” he murmured, licking her throat, and Nina felt every little stroke like a lash to her clit.

Malcolm kissed his way along her collarbone, tugging the straps of her dress down, and before Nina could do more than gasp, the clinging red fabric was around her waist, and Malcolm was unsnapping the front clasp of her bra with an ease that spoke of regular practice.

Of course.  He probably had hundreds of trampy women begging him to undress them, she realized, but the snarky thought vanished along with her bra, and strong, warm hands cupped her breasts, rolling her nipples to aching peaks.  Ignoring her choked cry, Malcolm nuzzled between the mounds, the scratch of stubble sending sensation skittering along Nina’s sensitized skin.

She wanted to tell him to slow down, that this was too much, too fast, but all that came out of her mouth was, “Please – don’t stop – ”

EXCERPT!!! Kiss of the Wild Wolf – COMING SOON

20 Tuesday Aug 2013

Good morning, readers!  Crazy month – lots of boring, mind-numbing work that keeps me from all of my lovely characters!  I’m sneaking in time where I can.  Here’s an excerpt of something new! Stay tuned for cover art…

KISS OF THE WILD WOLF

All Nina O’Rourke wants is a baby, a child to bring joy to her husband in his final  days before he succumbs to a ravaging illness, and comfort and happiness as she faces the future alone.  She never thought she’d be the kind of woman to pick up a gorgeous stranger on the side of the road for a night of incredible sex and intense passion, the likes of which she’s never known.  However, when Nina finds herself pregnant and widowed, at the mercy of greedy former in-laws, her future seems more than a little uncertain.

And hopefully find a way to deal with the situation without losing his heart to her completely.

EXCERPT:

“Are you going to stand there all night?” asked the young woman, and Malcolm pulled himself together enough to give her an easy, hopefully innocent-looking smile.

“Thanks for stopping.  I was out for a walk and the sky just opened up.”

It was a run, actually.  After hours of wining and dining, strip clubs and shots, Malcolm had had more than enough.   It wasn’t his scene, and if Jonathan hadn’t asked him to play nice, he would have headed for the hills.  Grayson, his right hand man, had suggested a run, and driven him up to a remote spot in the woods, arranging to meet him a few miles away, on the other side.  Malcolm had wasted no time, stripping to his skin, stashing his clothes in the backpack he slung over his shoulders, and shifting into the powerful creature that lay just under the surface.

It felt so good to race through the woods at top speed, muscles burning, lungs full of the scent of pine and lush earth, power coursing through his body, all the tension of playing the gracious human host gone.  Bliss.  An hour later, he strolled out of the woods again, fully dressed, and called Grayson…only to discover that the SUV had blown a tire.  Grayson apologized profusely.  He would be along as soon as it was feasible.

Malcolm was just debating his options when the deluge began, and five minutes later, the sedan had pulled up, offering an even more intriguing possibility.

“You were out for a walk?  Out here?”

The woman sounded skeptical, and Malcolm realized she was probably still uncertain.  What woman wouldn’t be, encountering a strange man on the side of the road?

“I like the woods.  My driver was going to meet me, but he got a flat.”

She worried her lower lip, obviously considering the veracity of his story, and Malcolm wanted to groan.  He could spend hours on that mouth.

“There’s a motel a few miles up the road.  I’m sure you can get a room there and wait for your friend.  If you want a lift…”

“I’d appreciate that.  It doesn’t look like it’s going to let up anytime soon.”

On cue, lightning cracked the sky and buckets of icy water seemed to course down Malcolm’s neck.

“Okay.”

Thank God.

As a shifter, cold and wet were minor irritations, but Malcolm had grown up in the human world, and now that he was disgustingly rich, he saw no reason not to live the good life whenever possible.  The very good life.

He climbed in the passenger seat, shutting the door, and nearly reeled.  The woman’s delicate rose scent teased his senses and seemed to stroke every inch of his throbbing dick.  His mouth was actually watering.  Though it was dark, he could see that though she was tiny, she was delightfully curvy in all the right places – perfect handfuls of warm, rose-scented flesh wrapped in a red rubber band of a dress.

“I’m Malcolm, by the way,” he said, trying to keep his voice from coming out as a lusty growl.

“Nina,” she said, darting occasional wary looks at him as they started moving.

“You’re perfectly safe with me,” said Malcolm, as gently as he could.

Flustered, Nina seemed to tense more, but after a few minutes, as Malcolm made no sudden moves, she relaxed. Malcolm wanted to smile as she let the mace slip back into the bag in her lap.

“I hope I didn’t interrupt your evening,” he ventured, studying her.

“No, it was pretty much over,” Nina sighed.

“A date?” asked Malcolm, and wanted to kick himself even as she shook her head a little frantically.

Of course it was a date.  No woman dressed like that for herself.  His eyes slid up the generous length of bare golden thigh, and Malcolm was surprised by the sudden possessiveness he felt toward his rescuer.

Not for you, Trask, he warned himself, She’s human and you’re engaged.  Well, spoken for at the very least.

But Malcolm couldn’t stop the vision of pulling the car to the side of the road, draping this gorgeous creature over the hood, and peeling down her dress by light of the headlights so that he could lick away every drop of rain as it fell before wrapping those shapely thighs around his hips.  He growled internally at the thought that she might have been entertaining another man in drier, if similar fashion, earlier tonight, and inhaled deeply.  Roses, woman, and yes, there was the scent of another man, though muted.  If she’d touched him, it wasn’t recently, and it certainly wasn’t sexual. Malcolm would know.

This sudden attraction bothered him.  He didn’t sleep with human women, not even in his younger days before his arrangement with Eliana.  Wolf shifter women were stunning in an Amazonian warrior kind of way – all sleek strength and lithe femininity.  When he looked at Nina, all Malcolm could think was soft.

Lush.

Tasty.

And aroused, unless his sniffer was very much mistaken.

Malcolm dug his fingers into his thighs, his claws emerging just slightly to dig into the denim.  The bite of pain centered him.  It was only a few miles to the motel.  They’d part ways and he’d never have to worry about this pretty little human unsettling him ever again.

EXCERPT!!! Making the Grade (Teach Me Tonight #2)

02 Friday Aug 2013

Happy Friday!  Just a little excerpt from my upcoming short MAKING THE GRADE with my dear friend Jane Gaudet – hoping to have it in the queue by Monday, so stay tuned!  Have a great weekend, everyone!

Making the Grade - SMALL

Math teacher Sadie Dunne’s summer is not off to a good start. Not only has she spent the entire school year getting pushed around by her rambunctious students, by their parents, and by her colleagues, who find it all too easy to take advantage of her generous heart, but instead of taking a relaxing vacation on a tropical beach somewhere, she’s stuck teaching summer school. To make matters worse, the AC in her classroom is broken and too-hot-for-his-own-good maintenance man Cooper Bell seems more interested in flirting with her than in fixing it.  When her latest mistake of a relationship implodes, Sadie has had enough.  For once, Sadie wants to be the one calling the shots – in her classes, in her life, and especially in the arms of the hunky handyman.

Cooper has never been great at reading women, and the mixed signals from the lovely Sadie have been driving him crazy! She may want him, but she never speaks up, and he worries that she’s out of his league. When an accident traps them in a supply closet together, Cooper sees an opportunity to convince her to give him a chance, even if it means letting her call the shots and revealing his deepest, darkest fantasy of submitting to a beautiful woman. A steamy tryst in a closet is one thing, but can Sadie and Cooper get past their self-doubt to teach each other how to be happy together?

EXCERPT:

Sadie grumbled to herself as she trudged down the stairs.  It was even hotter down here, if that were possible.  The air conditioning had gone out on Monday, and for whatever reason was still out.  She paused at the bottom of the stairs, drawing a breath of hot, stale air, gathering her courage.  The downstairs corridors were always a little dim and dank and nightmarish in a monster-in-the-basement horror movie kind of way, but the flutter in her stomach had nothing to do with fear as she tapped on the door of the Maintenance Office.

“Mr. Bell?”

The whirr of machinery nearly drowned out her voice, and, reasoning that he might not be able to hear her, she opened the door.  And stopped short, her jaw dropping.

Cooper Bell.

The man should come with a warning label.  Six-five, broad-shouldered, and muscled like a Greek statue, the gorgeous, brown-haired thorn in Sadie’s side was in the process of pulling a greasy, damp tee shirt over his head.  The rational, schoolteacher part of Sadie was immediately and properly horrified, but everything female in her came to instant, sparkling awareness, and she had to stifle what would have been a truly embarrassing whimper of lust and gratitude at the sight of such a delicious specimen of manhood.  He was reaching for a clean tee shirt across his desk in a move that had muscles flexing smoothly under golden skin when he spotted her in the doorway.  Cooper froze, eyes widening, and then straightened, dark eyebrows rising over dark green eyes, the corner of his mouth kicking up in a half-smile that brought out the dimple in his cheek.

Stupid dimple, thought Sadie, ignoring the desire to stroke the little notch with her lips.

“Problem, Miss Dunne?” he asked.

Sadie was having trouble getting her mouth to work.  It was one thing to listen to her fellow teachers gossip about the studly new Head of Maintenance who looked more like a male model than a handyman.  It was quite another to be confronted with the man himself, half-naked in only a pair of jeans that hung from lean hips in a way that made the stomach flutter morph into a herd of stampeding buffalo.  He was nearly smooth, with a narrow trail of brown hair under his navel, trailing down under his waistband.  Sadie wondered if it felt as soft as it looked.  She wondered what it would feel like to nuzzle the hard ridges of his abdomen as she slowly pulled those jeans down, down, down…

Oh my God, Sadie!  Snap out of it!  You have a boyfriend!  Kind of.

An Anniversary Freebie! An Excerpt! Numbers!

22 Monday Jul 2013

Posted by LilyRede in Excerpts, Teach Me Tonight

I can’t believe it’s been a year already!  365 days since I took a deep breath and put HOT FOR JOE up for sale on Amazon.  I think I sold 10 copies that first month.  However, I stuck with it, and I’m happy to report that in just a year, I’ve sold just over 17,000 copies of 11 short stories, 2 collections, and 2 romantic suspense novels.  It’s been quite a ride, and I’m hoping that in this second year I’ll be able to bring you new Bright’s Ferry books, a few more shorts, and a jump into the Hearts of Stone world, among other things.

To celebrate my anniversary, BUILD ME UP is free through Wednesday, so if you haven’t gotten to know Grant and Kelly, now’s your chance!

Build Me Up Cover - Smallest

And of course, it’s Monday, so here’s a much-deserved excerpt from MAKING THE GRADE (TEACH ME TONIGHT #2).  Sadie and Cooper are stuck together in a hot, dusty supply closet, but luckily, there’s a window…:)

Making the Grade - SMALL

Math teacher Sadie Dunne’s summer is not off to a good start. Not only has she spent the entire school year getting pushed around by her rambunctious students, by their parents, and by her colleagues, who find it all too easy to take advantage of her generous heart, but she’s just been dumped, and instead of consoling herself on a tropical beach somewhere, she’s stuck teaching summer school. To make matters worse, the AC in her classroom is broken and too-hot-for-his-own-good maintenance man Cooper Bell seems more interested in flirting with her than in fixing it.

EXCERPT:

“Come on, I’ll give you a boost.”

“A boost?”

Cooper grinned at the horror that must have filled her expression, but Sadie couldn’t see anything funny about the situation.  Nothing.  Zero.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to drop you.”

“There must be another way.”

“Unless you’re going to magically sprout wings, this is the best idea I’ve got.”

Cooper started toward her, pausing when Sadie shook her head, frantic.

“Come on, don’t you want to get out of here?  We’ll have a better chance of someone hearing us with the window open.   Maybe I’ll get a tiny little glimpse of your panties.  So what?  It’s not like I’ve never seen panties before.”

Cooper’s eyes were alight with amusement and naughty anticipation, though she could see him fighting to keep the smile from his face.

“I can’t,” squeaked Sadie.

“Why not?”

His eyebrow rose as the heat of Sadie’s blush swamped her.

“Because I’m not wearing panties,” she said.

IT SHOULDN’T MATTER.  WHAT were panties anyway? A meaningless scrap of silk that cloaked the soft folds of her pussy – flesh Cooper was never going to get to see.  Sadie might have gone commando every day of the year and he never would have guessed.  But alone in this closet, suddenly the thought of Sadie’s sweet folds uncovered under her skirt seemed unbearably erotic.  Cooper’s skin felt too tight, his cock swelling in the confines of his jeans as he pictured her inching up her skirt for him, her creamy thighs graced with black garters as she revealed the doorway to paradise.

Was she bare? Or did she keep her mound covered in sexy curls, the same impossible white-blonde as her hair?

She was beet red.  And his mouth suddenly seemed incapable of forming a sentence.

“Oh,” he said.

“So, yes.  No boosting.”

Cooper couldn’t help it, his eyes dropped to her skirt.  She blushed even harder, if that was possible.

Don’t think about it.

“Was it too hot to wear them?”

The words came tumbling out and Cooper thought that now might be a good time for a merciful cosmic piano to drop out of the sky and crush him into tiny, stupid pieces.

“What?”

She looked adorably cute.  And flustered.

“Panties.”

God, shut up, Cooper!  What the hell is wrong with you?

“No, I left them somewhere.  I mean, does it matter?”

Somewhere.  That one little word had a green tendril snaking up Cooper’s spine to wrap around vital organs.  Somewhere like a lover’s bed?  Somewhere like some dickwad’s pants pocket, where he could feel the lace and silk against his fingers during the day and think about all the sweet curves they had nestled against?

“No, it doesn’ t matter,” he gritted out.

And then it was just awkward silence for a long moment.  Sadie was staring at the floor, no doubt hoping it would open up and swallow her.  Suddenly, her chin came up and she looked at him straight, eyes flashing.

“If you must know, I was going to seduce my now ex-boyfriend, but it turns out he was too busy seducing someone else, so I kind of threw my panties at him and made a grand exit.”

Well, then.
