More Shiny Things and a Safe From the Fire Giveaway!!!

I’m hard at work on SHADOW OF THE RAVEN, but I’ve had such a fun week with all the Matt & Grace love that I thought I’d give away a copy of SAFE FROM THE FIRE.

Safe From the Fire - SMALL

Post a comment and tell me about your favorite story from  myth or legend – Greek, Native American, Welsh, Mayan, whatever, and you’ll be entered to win a copy of SFF as a PDF or mobi.

I’ll take entries until Friday night, and the winner will be announced on Saturday.  As for my favorites – I’ve always enjoyed the tragedy of Narcissus and Echo, along with pretty much any of the adventures of Loki.  🙂

More SHINY THINGS!  Chapters 8 & 9 are up!

Shiny Things - SMALL

Happy reading, and stop by over the next week for SHADOW OF THE RAVEN excerpts…

Tuesday Muses

Good morning, everyone!  It’s a gloomy day here, and the ocean is so choppy I can almost see old pirate ships and sea monsters.  Yesterday was fun – thanks so much for all the love for SAFE FROM THE FIRE!  I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you’ll stop by Amazon and give it a review.  If you haven’t gotten a copy yet, the bundled Bright’s Ferry 1 & 2 will be available this afternoon.

Bright's Ferry Bundle 1 and 2 Flat

Next up, Muses!   SHADOW OF THE RAVEN, which comes out the 15th, centers on a powerful but lonely witch and the Muse she dallies with.  I’ve already gotten quite a few questions about making the muses male, so I wanted to chat about that today.  Why?  Why make these beautiful, mysterious mythical figures into men?  Well, my first thought was that if I wrote them right, my heroines would find each of them pretty inspirational.  The prequel is set in ancient times, but the series moves us into the present, and I thought it would be fun to have these incredibly powerful  men have to struggle to understand modern ways of life and modern women.  The wonderful thing about writing paranormal stories is that nothing is off limits, so HEARTS OF STONE will mix Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Native American mythology, not to mention some good, old-fashioned monsters and demons.  I can’t wait!

As for making Cal into a sexy, clueless Muse of Epic Song, I was happy to find that a lot of the classical mythology translates nicely.  He’s a man of great wisdom, but mortals baffle him.  He’s all about fairness and justice, but human emotion is messy and uncomfortable.  He’s in for a few surprises…LOL…

I still have a few chunks of SHADOW to get through this week, so I’ll leave it there – there’s plenty of time to get to know Cal – he’s our hero in SHADOW, but I’m giving him the first Hearts of Stone book as well!

Happy Reading!

Upload, Take 2

We are going to try this again, my lovelies!

I am re-uploading SAFE FROM THE FIRE in about two minutes, so I hope it will be there for a lazy Sunday afternoon of reading and hot firemen.  And I STILL have to finish my SHINY THINGS chapter…bad romance writer. BAD!

xoxo

The Endless Upload

It’s coming, I swear!  There will be a call to Customer Service if it’s not available by morning.

I know the site crashed for a few hours earlier, which may have something to do with it…

Time for bed, then I will get up and finish my chapter of SHINY THINGS for you. 🙂

In the queue!!!

Success!  SAFE FROM THE FIRE is in the queue, which means now the waiting can begin.  I’ve had books that took two hours to review and publish, and books that took days.  Here’s hoping for the former…LOL…

Anyway, I will share it with the world as soon as the link comes my way, but if you’re dying for your copy, start checking around noon.

And now to have a drink and raise a toast to all the wonderful, brave firefighters out there who keep us safe and sadly, probably don’t have time for quite as much kinky sex as they do in Bright’s Ferry. 🙂

Firefighter Matt Harris has wanted edgy librarian Grace Mallow forever – there’s something about her purple hair and her sexy dark side that pushes all of his buttons, even if the rest of the town looks down on her.  Unfortunately, Matt’s memories of an abusive childhood have left him terrified of turning into a monster like his father.  He’s determined to find a gentle way to woo Grace, but he’s unprepared for the white-hot heat that burns when they finally come together.

Grace Mallow knows that no matter how badly she wants him, she doesn’t belong with a wholesome blond dreamboat like Matt, who would be horrified to learn that she wants to be sexually dominated.  But Matt is persistent, and Grace is having a hard time turning him down and keeping her emotional walls intact.  As the couple struggles to handle their passion for each other, an arsonist begins terrorizing Bright’s Ferry, and all signs point to Grace’s younger brother, a reformed firebug recently returned to town to make amends for his crimes.  Matt and Grace race to stop a madman, but can they find common ground and save each other and their town, or will passion and fire burn out of control and separate them forever?

Home Stretch!

If today goes as planned, SAFE FROM THE FIRE will go into the Amazon queue tonight, and be available tomorrow morning.  That and a new chapter of SHINY THINGS late tomorrow.

Home stretch!

P.S.  SFF Chapter 10 is so hot.  Trust me. 😉

Focus!

Short post!  It’s Saturday night and I am hard at work whipping SAFE FROM THE FIRE into shape – I did lose a TON in my computer meltdown last week, but it’s coming together again.

SHADOW OF THE RAVEN also needs some pieces put back in place, but I’m feeling good about both of them, and having some great ideas for the next book in each series – Sheriff Tony’s story in SAFE FROM THE STORM and the first book of HEARTS OF STONE, whose title still needs a little finessing…LOL…:)

Happy weekend, dear readers!  Enjoy some new SHINY THINGS and check back here late next week!

Curses and Silver Linings

I have nasty words for the universe today, but I mostly spewed them when I laid down a credit card for a new laptop, as my beloved former laptop bit the dust.  I believe that’s the technical term.

Luckily, the computer hospital was able to salvage the innards, so I’m going to choose to see the silver lining – shiny new laptop, and work saved.  It’s going to take me a little while to get everything back up and running, but two things I can assure you:

a) There will be a NEW chapter of SHINY THINGS on Friday.

b) Both SAFE FROM THE FIRE and SHADOW OF THE RAVEN will come out over the next couple of weeks – TBD depending on what the innards look like when I can actually get into the files tomorrow.

No sense in fretting about it – and now I’m going to get back to being excited about more BRIGHT’S FERRY and my lovely HEARTS OF STONE prequel, which is shaping up to be magical and intricate and yes, deliciously hot.

Stay tuned!

A Valentine’s/Birthday Technology Massacre

Traditionally, I spend Valentine’s Day in a blissed-out haze of chocolate and well-wishes – because I’m less about the holiday and more about the fact that Valentine’s Day is also my birthday!  As a kid, it was kind of annoying.  As an adult and a romance writer, I look at it as meant to be.

This year, however, I am SO FURIOUS.  Why?  Because I woke up this morning, booted up my laptop, and was abruptly greeted by the blue screen of death.  ARGH!!!!  Doesn’t the universe know I have a book to release this weekend?  Yes, I backed everything up, but since I’ve been editing SAFE FROM THE FIRE all week, the most current version is IN THE INNARDS of that infernal machine.  So, I dropped the laptop off with the computer whisperers this morning in hopes they can get it working again, and I’m typing from my wee little netbook today.

I did lose my latest chapter of SHINY THINGS, so I’m going to spend the day recreating that for my beloved readers.  As for Matt & Grace, to be safe I’m going to push the release a few days – grrrrr….

SAFE FROM THE FIRE – 2/22…grumble grumble

I think I definitely deserve every crumb of birthday cake and that pomegranate martini tonight.

May your Valentine’s Day be sweet and free from technological aggravation.

xoxo. 🙂
